Biryani is a popular South Asian dish that consists of fragrant rice cooked with meat and spices.

 It is a versatile dish that can be made with chicken, lamb, beef, or even vegetables. Biryani is a dish that is loved by people of all ages and is perfect for any occasion. Here is a recipe for the best biryani that you can make at home.

Ingredients:

- 2 cups of basmati rice.





500 gm chicken (cut into pieces)








- 2 onions (finely chopped)








- 2 tomatoes (finely chopped)










- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste











- 1 tsp red chili powder









- 1 tsp turmeric powder











- 1 tsp coriander powder











- 1 tsp cumin powder









- 1 tsp garam masala powder











- 1 tbsp biryani masala powder











- 1 cup plain yogurt









- 1/2 cup milk











- 1/4 cup cooking oil











- Salt to taste











- Fresh coriander leaves (for garnishing)











Instructions:

1. Rinse the basmati rice well in cold water and soak it for half an hour.











2. In a large pot, heat the cooking oil and add the onions. Cook until they turn golden brown.











3. Add the chicken and cook until it is no longer pink.











4. Add the ginger-garlic paste, tomatoes, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and garam masala powder. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.



5. Add the biryani masala powder and stir well.

6. Add the yogurt and mix well. Cook for a few minutes until the chicken is cooked through.

7. In a separate pot, boil the soaked rice in salted water until it is half cooked. Drain the water and set aside.

8. In a small pot, heat the milk and add a pinch of saffron. Let it steep for a few minutes.

9. In a large pot, layer the cooked chicken and rice. Start with a layer of rice, then chicken, and continue until you have used all the rice and chicken.

10. Pour the saffron milk over the rice and cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid.

11. Cook the biryani on low heat for 20-25 minutes or until the rice is fully cooked.

12. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
